Chronological History
Chronological History
In 1999 there was a growing awareness that a senior Aussie rules footy
club was required in our district to cater for players coming out of
junior grades at 17s level. These guys had won the clubs first
Premiership in junior ranks. A lot of senior players living in the
district were traveling long distances to other clubs.
2000
Therefore, in the year 2000 Quinns Districts Amateur Football Club was
born , playing in the Mercantile Football Association. The first year
was quite successful with the Club finishing in the Preliminary Final,
and 3rd overall for the year.
2001
The following year saw a huge influx of new players to the club for the
2001 season. An extensive advertising program ensured enough players
for the Club to field two senior sides and one colts side. A successful
year saw the League Side finish 2nd on the ladder, at the end of the
home and away games. A magnificent finals campaign resulted in the
Club’s first senior Premiership. The Reserves and colts also had good
years finishing just shy of a finals berth.
2002
Our Club joined the Western Australian Amateur Football League in 2002
and had a great year. A Preliminary Final birth and an overall 3rd
placing was another strong performance by the League side, with the
reserves and colts missing the finals by percentage.
2003
The Club approached the 2003 season with much excitement and promise.
However, injuries to many of our top players in the pre-season, along
with a number of players moving out of the area due to work saw the
Club struggle to get enough players to field the number of teams we had
in previous years. Unfortunately, the Club could not field a Colts side
with many of the young players having to step up to play in the League
side. This reflected in our on field results with both teams finishing
in the lower half of the ladder.
2004
In 2004 there was a lot of optimism and hope around the Club
approaching the start of the season. With the return of some old
players and some very promising new players joining the Club there was
a lot to be excited about. Whilst the league side did not reach its
potential, our Reserves side played off in the elimination final and
narrowly lost to finish 5th. Off field, it could be said, 2004 was the
clubs biggest year ever.
2005 - 2006
On-field, the 2005/6 seasons did not reflect the strong position that the
Club was in off the field with both the League and the Reserves
finishing in the bottom half of the ladder. However, the Club managed
to increase its bank account , and in the
process developed some very good partnerships with sponsors and
other Community organizations.
2007 - 2008
After some trying years in 2007 the club has started to grow again with the introduction of a colts side. While the success on the field was not forthcoming the club was growing in the right direction and setting the foundations for future success. The colts narrowly missed the finals in both years wit the senior sides trying but finding success.
2009
This year would provide to be a watershed in the development of Quinns Amateur Football club with the introduction of a third senior side in G grade. Success finally being realized with the D grade league, reserves and also colts qualifying for the finals and the league making the grand final. Unfortunately the League side being defeated by 4 points in a very tight grand final.
